Wedding Venues in the Burlington County, New Jersey Parks System

The Burlington County Parks System offers some of the most charming, historic, and naturally beautiful locations for outdoor weddings in South Jersey. Couples who want flexibility, open-air settings, and a refreshing alternative to traditional banquet halls often find the perfect match within these parks. From elegant historic grounds to rustic barns and broad garden plazas, the county’s properties accommodate ceremonies, tented receptions, catered events, and intimate gatherings. Below is a comprehensive overview of the four major Burlington County Parks wedding venues and what makes each one special.

The Grounds at Smithville Mansion

803 Smithville Road, Eastampton, NJ 08060
Phone for appointments: (609) 265-5858

The Smithville Mansion grounds are the signature wedding destination within the Burlington County Parks System. Built in 1840, the Greek Revival mansion is surrounded by stone courtyard walls, formal parterre gardens, a grape arbor, and manicured lawns. Although the mansion interior is not available for rent, the outdoor courtyard and surrounding garden spaces may be reserved for weddings and catered receptions. A permanent 40 x 80-foot tent accommodates up to 160 guests and includes lighting, electric access, nearby parking, and accessible restrooms. Landscaping changes seasonally, giving weddings a different visual character at other times of year. Couples can schedule site visits during regular business hours or by appointment, and spring through fall events offer the broadest styling possibilities.

Burlington County Community Agricultural Center

500 Centerton Road, Moorestown, NJ 08057
Phone for appointments: (609) 265-5858

Located on a 62-acre preserved working farm, the Agricultural Center is an excellent option for couples seeking a rustic, farm-inspired wedding setting. The venue features a newly renovated farmhouse with meeting rooms, a shared-use commercial kitchen, and surrounding lawn areas available for ceremonies. The most popular wedding locations are the Market Barn and the Market Plaza. The Market Barn measures approximately 105 x 40 feet, features open sides for natural airflow, and has a maximum capacity of 175 guests. The Market Plaza measures roughly 105 x 110 feet and includes a 30 x 60-foot event tent installed from April through November. The lawn offers options for outdoor ceremonies, and the upstairs farmhouse rooms can be used for staging or bridal prep before the ceremony. Parking is available for up to 150 vehicles across paved and overflow areas, and wedding rehearsals can be arranged during regular park hours.

The Grounds at the Prison Museum

128 High Street, Mount Holly, NJ 08060
Phone for appointments: (609) 265-5858

The Burlington County Prison Museum grounds offer one of the most unique wedding backdrops in South Jersey. The prison, completed in 1811 and designated a national historic landmark, was designed by prominent architect Robert Mills. While the interior museum is not available for private rental, the enclosed prison yard may be reserved for catered events. The yard measures approximately 114 by 148 feet and provides ample room for tents, seating, and ceremony layouts. Accessible restrooms are included, and tents can be rented through a private vendor or arranged through a chosen caterer. Couples drawn to historic architecture often appreciate the distinctive brickwork, preserved stone, and the site’s striking visual character.

Lyceum of History & Natural Sciences

307 High Street, Mount Holly, NJ 08060
Phone for appointments: (609) 265-5858

The Lyceum is an elegant, stately venue listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The two-and-a-half-story Georgian mansion was built in 1830 and features original crystal chandeliers, blue marble fireplaces, painted glass panes, and detailed trim. The grounds and community room are both available for catered events. The community room measures 24 by 43 feet and has a maximum capacity of 72 guests, making it well-suited for intimate weddings, rehearsal dinners, and cocktail-style receptions. The landscaped grounds offer additional outdoor ceremony space, and the historic architecture creates a refined, picturesque backdrop.

How Weddings Work in the Burlington County Parks System

All catered events must use an approved caterer from the county’s current vendor list, and rental times are limited to a maximum of eight hours, including setup and breakdown. Events must end by 10 p.m., with cleanup completed by 11 p.m. Tents may be set up in designated areas, and alcohol is permitted only when the required permits and licensed bartenders are obtained. Small wedding ceremonies may also be held throughout the parks upon request, giving couples the freedom to choose specific outdoor spots with personal meaning. With a blend of historic charm, natural scenery, and flexible event planning, the Burlington County Parks System offers couples a range of unique and meaningful options for their wedding day.
