EBE Vendor Feature: Stephanie Carr from the Fitler Club

By | Blog, Ask The Experts, Spotlights, EBE News, Vendor Features, Venues We Love

In our industry, it’s impossible to execute an incredible event without the help of other dynamic vendors. In our Vendor Features, we learn more about the people who we love to work with event after event, and year after year. Next up is Stephanie Carr, Catering Director at the Fitler Club.

Stephanie Carr has been in the events industry for 14+ years, and joined the Fitler Club pre-opening team in the Summer of 2018. The Fitler Club itself opened in January of this year, and has been thriving since!

The Fitler Club is one of Philadelphia’s up-and-coming private clubs. The membership offers some pretty incredible benefits such as hotel suites, an incredible restaurant, and an outstanding game room. One pretty cool feature of the Fitler Club is that you don’t have to be a member to host your wedding event here. Everything within the Fitler Club is brand new, modern, and provides the perfect environment to celebrate love.

To learn more about the club itself, head to April 2019’s EBE Venue Spotlight!

I was able to sit down with Stephanie to ask her a few questions… check it out!

What makes the Fitler Club stand out next to companies like it?

An incredible attention to detail and guest experience. Exceptional homemade food by Marc Vetri.

Tell us about your favorite event!

I have so many! One that stands out was a gala for the opening of a children’s hospital, where cocktails took place in the lobby, followed by dinner in a tent on top of the parking garage. It was one of the most logistically-challenging events I have ever worked in my career, but incredibly rewarding when all went as planned. What I remember most is celebrating with our entire team and client afterward. There is no better feeling!

Do you have any skills or talents that most people don’t know about?

I’m seriously good at pinball and a fairly good bowler. I’m getting to hone in on those talents here at Fitler Club’s Trophy Room!

What is your go-to at karaoke?

SPICE GIRLS!!

If you could join any past or present music group, which would you want to join?

Though I wouldn’t be able to contribute anything musically, I would love to go on tour with DMB!

Being challenged to create fun ways to tell stories through food & beverage. And… tastings. All the tastings.

Let’s see some of your work!

Justin Chan started Valley Creek Productions in 2005 after finishing his degree in Broadcast Communications from Temple University. At that time, he began working on his Master’s Degree in business at Penn State. Chinatown, best food in the city. Its been tradition to go down with family several times a year since I was a kid. Good way to connect with the Chinese side of my heritage.

What is your Best Advice for Potential Clients?

Be yourself – plan the wedding of your dreams. #yourdayyourway

What is your Zodiac Sign?

Pisces

What wedding trends are you loving?

We are loving that many couples are skipping traditions and create THEIR version of a perfect wedding day. They are adding more of their personality instead of doing what everyone else is or did. For example – no bouquet toss, private cake cutting or no cake at all, more friends being ordained, small ceremonies with big receptions… this list goes on but they seem to be having more fun with their guests.

What wedding trends are you ready to see go away?

Rustic, Rustic chic, burlap, mason jars….. I love rustic weddings but I think that this look needs to be in a rustic venue for it to be amazing. Wedding can be rustic without the use of burlap and mason jars!

EBE Vendor Feature: Amanda Dabbeekeh from Diamonds and Details

By | Blog, Ask The Experts, Spotlights, EBE News, Vendor Features

In our industry, it’s impossible to execute an incredible event without the help of other dynamic vendors. In our Vendor Features, we learn more about the people who we love to work with event after event, and year after year. Next up is Amanda Dabbeekah, owner of Diamonds & Details.

Amanda created a website for Diamonds & Details 10 years ago, and booked her first client two months later. After no time at all, Diamonds & Details grew to her full-time position!

I was able to sit down with Amanda to ask her a few questions… check it out!

What makes Diamonds and Details stand out next to companies like it?

Diamonds and Details is very client focused. We take on a limited number of weddings a year so that we can focus on our clients’ needs from the day they hire us right up until wedding day. Even our clients who hire us for wedding day management (also known as “day of coordination”) have a very hands-on experience working with the company… they can reach out at anytime to their Coordinator as opposed to 1 or 2 months before the wedding like some other companies offer in their packages.

What motivates you to work hard?

Seeing my clients happy! Finding the right venue or perfect band for a client makes me want to work even harder to plan their perfect wedding!

Tell us about your favorite event and why it was/is your favorite

Every wedding the company works on is different, even if it’s a venue we have worked at before so picking a favorite can be hard. Personally, I do love when I work with clients that have a little bit of an “offbeat theme” to them or they pick a really nontraditional venue. We have worked at venues like the Franklin Institute and the Please Touch Museum and those venues always make for a fun wedding. Our clients that got married at the Franklin Institute really wanted to have a “fun, nerdy” wedding as they called it – we incorporated Star Wars, Legos and astronomy into a lot of their wedding details. As a surprise to everyone, even the Bride and Groom, their officiant dressed up like the Priest from the Princess Bride (and used the same lines from the movie) which still is a favorite wedding moment of ours!

Favorite Wedding Month?

October is the new June, but I love the summer heat… so any summer months are my favorite!

What is your Best Advice for Potential Clients?

The most obvious advice – Hire a Wedding Planner! I also tell clients not to worry about everyone else and do what THEY want – personalize your wedding so it really speaks about you as the couple getting married. Love traveling? Name your tables after places you have been. Are you known for a funny story with family and friends? Make your wedding hashtag or name your signature drinks with something to do with that story – guests will love it!

What is your Favorite thing to do in Philadelphia?

I am a history buff so I love exploring the museums in the city and seeing all the landmarks and historical places.

What is your Zodiac Sign?

Capricorn

What is your Favorite Movie?

The Notebook! (I even named one of my sons Noah)

What is your Go-to at Karaoke?

I don’t sing in public! I have major stage fright!

If you could join any past or present music group, which would you want to join?

NSYNC! (guilty pleasure and favorite group – have seen them in concert over 15 times!)

Is there anything else you want to tell us about your company?

The ongoing theme in many of our online reviews is that we truly love working with our clients and I would completely agree with this sentiment! We are really all about the details and bringing our clients vision to life as best as possible. Keeping the planning process as stress free as possible is also a top priority and we would love the opportunity to work with you to do just that!

Venues We Love: Reading Terminal Market

By | Blog, Ask The Experts, EBE News, Vendor Features, Venues We Love

Food lovers in the Philadelphia area are all too familiar with the Reading Terminal Market. Walking through the market, customers will find unique treats, meals, cookware, produce and flowers that will bring all of the sense alive. If your love of all things culinary travels beyond just the plate, you can bring your next event to the market directly and celebrate in style while experiencing a taste of Philly.

If you’re newly engaged and looking for a unique location for a wedding in the Philadelphia area, The Reading Terminal Market is the place for you. With a central location across from the Pennsylvania Convention Center and the Philadelphia Downtown Marriott, it is not only a special gem in the city of brotherly love, but conveniently accessible for guests as well.

One of the oldest and largest public markets in the United States, the Reading Terminal Market has been housed in it’s location since 1893 and is a National Historic Landmark. Some amazing vendors that provide delicious fare that we absolutely love are Pearl’s Oyster Bar, Fox & Son’s Fancy Corndogs, Little Thai Market, and Beck’s Cajun Cafe. This unique market is a staple in Philadelphia and is world-renowned. How cool would it be to get married there?!

The Reading Terminal market can house up to 4,000 guests for a single event, and guests will enjoy an after-hours experience while enjoying the fruits of the market. Events are held in The Center Court to create an interactive dining experience for your wedding guests.

The basic cost of the event covers a large range of services such as providing chairs, tables, linens, security, and, of course, the food! Given the option of creating food stations with the restaurants of your choice or allowing guests to graze at specific restaurants, the dining experience will be one that is hard to forget.

This amazing Philadelphia location provides the perfect backdrop for any wedding, and can be thought of as an open drawing board. It’s time to create a perfect event where your imagination in design is the only limit. Are you ready?
