Wedding Planning in Philadelphia: Creating a Nostalgic ’90s Bridal Shower Your Guests Will Love

By Wedding Planning

A good theme can elevate a bridal shower from ordinary to incredible. Perfect for just about any event, the nostalgic 1990s is always a win. We’ve put together a list of our favorite ideas that celebrate the bride and the best decade ever!

Lisa Frank Neon Colors & Holograms

Did you have iconic Lisa Frank notebooks, pencil cases, trapper keepers, or folders to keep your school work organized? What about holographic sneakers, jewelry, or purses? These items scream ‘90s and are perfect for using as decor for a bridal shower. Lisa Frank has made a come back in recent years and party decor can be found at many online retailers.

Snacks

Create a candy table where guests will be able to satisfy their nostalgic sweet tooth. Include treats like Airheads, Gushers, WarHeads, Pop Rocks, and Fruit Stripe gum. Don’t forget to include a Ring Pop for every guest so they can enjoy some sweet bling!

Activities

Remember puffy paint? It is now known as 3D fabric paint and you can find it at your local craft stores. Pick up white t-shirts in various sizes so guests can have fun creating shirts that celebrate the bride-to-be.

Fun Games

Guests will have a blast taking turns at smacking a pinata until prizes break free. Have a custom piñata made in the shape of an iconic ‘90s symbol like a cassette tape, the MTV logo, or a smiley face. Mad-Libs were all the rage in the ‘90s, so have guests fill in the blanks using a feather-tipped pen that the cast of Clueless will approve of.

Party Favors

Send guests home with a goodie bag full of nostalgia. Include items such as a Pez Dispenser, mood rings, yoyos, wax lips, Lisa Frank stickers, pogs, sticker earrings, and slap bracelets.

If the bride-to-be is a wine gal, then hosting her bridal shower at a local winery only makes sense! Pennsylvania is blessed with over 150 wineries within state lines, many of which are located within the Philadelphia area. These gems serve up some award-winning wines, and we highly recommend that you consider hosting your next bridal shower at one of them!

Penns Woods Winery

This family-owned and operated winery in Chadds Ford, PA has been in working order for the last 40 years, providing some of the best wine that you can find in the southeast region of Pennsylvania. Their award-winning Pennsylvania-grown grapes create wines that are served at restaurants throughout the Philadelphia region. Hosting up to 50 guests in the winery, Penns Woods Winery is the perfect place to host a bridal shower. The winery will host private events after normal business hours so you can allow your guests to have the winery all to themselves during the party! Contact the winery directly to start planning.

Crossing Vineyards & Winery

A quick ride from Philly in Newtown, PA, Crossing Vineyards & Winery is the ideal location for hosting a bridal shower. With three different room options for the party to be held, this winery really knows how to entertain. The Vineyard room is a warm and inviting converted hayloft perfect for an intimate gathering. For a unique atmosphere, host the party in The Barrel Room and Winery to allow guests to mingle among the working oak barrels and steel holding tanks. Alternatively, the stunning Garden Room allows guests to bring the outdoors inside with panoramic views of the vineyard, terrace, and gardens. Our Favorite Bridal Shower Themes

By Uncategorized

Whoever decided that bridal showers had to be boring luncheons with sub-par food and wine is cancelled! Bridal showers should not be boring, and the food and beverage can be just as amazing as the bride and her party. This is one of the last parties that the bride will attend as an unmarried woman and it is an event that she will remember for the rest of her life. Selecting a theme not only the bride will love, but one that her guests will enjoy, is important. We are here to help you with a list of our favorite bridal shower themes.

Romantic Fairy Tale Theme

Many brides dream of having a romantic fairy tale wedding. Why not carry that theme into the bridal shower? A soft color palette, beautiful florals, and keeping the “Happily Ever After” theme going throughout the event will be a show stopper. Guests can snack on delicious sweets such as French macaroons and petit fours while sipping delicious cocktails to match the event’s theme.

Nautical Theme

If the bride and her soon-to-be spouse love to spend time on the water, a nautical theme is the perfect way to celebrate. Anchors, nautical knots, and a navy blue, white, red and yellow color scheme can carry the theme perfectly. We’ll even give you the first step! Adorn the invitations with some thick rope instead of ribbon to make a bow.

Backyard BBQ

For an at-home and relaxed bridal shower, opt for a backyard BBQ. Throw some burgers, hot dogs, veggie kebabs, and chicken on the grill, crack open a beer or two, and sit back and relax. Lawn games such as cornhole, lawn darts, and horseshoe are great activities to play during the party.

English Tea Party

The lover of all things floral and pretty will absolutely adore an English Tea Party bridal shower. Serve an assortment of specialty teas, finger sandwiches, and delicious sweets to keep this event classy. Use tea canisters to hold floral arrangements and make doggie bags of tea cookies as favors!

The Great Gatsby Theme

The roaring 20s was a time of incredible clothing, signature secret cocktails and feather headbands. All guests that attend can dress in style for the event. Serve up classic Prohibition-era cocktails like sidecars and Gin Rickey’s along with tasty treats.

We hope these ideas helped you select a theme for your bridal shower. We would love to hear about your event where you used one of these themes so contact us today to let us know all about it!
