Philadelphia Flyers and EBE Make a Great "Pair"!

Posted by: Pat Hart

Let's Go Flyers!

In the world of sports, the success of a team on the field is often determined by the blood sweat and tears put in off the field...or in this case...ice. In most cases you could catch a team in the film room, out together for dinner, or even at a motivational seminar of sorts in an effort to build team chemistry. This past Monday, however, the Philadelphia Flyers were seen bonding close together not through a film study, but for a five hour winner-take-all poker tournament!

This was a private event that took place inside the Philadelphia Spectrum in a club fittingly called “Bully's”. Being as EBE's own Matt Ostroff has had a long standing relationship with the Philadelphia Flyers since 1997, it was only fitting that he was given the honor of MC'ing the event. It may come as a surprise to many, but EBE has been in the business of throwing gaming nights that include poker, roulette and black jack for quite some time now. EBE not only provided the musical side of the party, but also was responsible for the gaming equipment such as betting chips and tables. In between playing songs such as Lady Gaga's “Poker Face” and O.A.R's “That Was A Crazy Game of Poker”, Matt spent the evening rubbing elbows with all of the “fly boys” in an effort to further expand the good name of EBE. Was the event a success as far as team chemistry goes? According to Matt it made one Flyer, that will remain anonymous, so comfortable with his surroundings that he made a request for Enrique Eglasias to be played! Expecting heavy metal or hard rock, Ostroff was thrown for quite the loop at this request saying, “I was shocked...I could have guessed a thousand other artists before Enrique made the cut.” Who says hockey players don't have a softer side?

This wasn't the first event that Matt had taken part in that involved “Bully's” or the Flyers. As a matter of fact he has done some incredible events through the years involving both the Sixers and the Flyers at this venue. Matt has been providing entertainment for these parties back to the days of Moses Malone and Dr. J when the club was called “Ovations”. Sadly, the Spectrum will be closed down soon and all will be left with nothing but the memories of the old building. EBE however, will be left with the pride of putting on the last major event ever held in the Spectrum. Kudos to Matt for a job well done, and hopefully we will all see its results on the ice come June! Go Flyers and keep up the good work Matt!
